Album of the week. Ok, so I was going to do this every week but I have to own the mp3s so this might only happen once a month. Album of the month!?!?!?!

Tegan and Sara “Sainthood”

Song “Someday”

First saw them open up for Ryan Adams years ago and have honestly been surprised they have stayed relevant and kept up the quality. One of the few bands I know that every song is good. Its a full album no filler. They have a wide variety of sounds and with two distinctive vocal styles, they are never boring.

First annual Halloween Song!!!! There should be another regular song this week. They only let me do one a day and I have been busy. This album sounds like Halloween growing up. Go Ryan Gosling with your bad self. And raw talent, kids, and single takes.

Dead Man Bones “In the Room Where You Sleep”

Good news! We had ten people actually listen to the songs. So guess what? Its a new song release week. Goodnight Unknown from Lou Barlow,  his last album Emoh came out way in 2005. Music history time folks: Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh, and Folk Implosion all have Lou Barlow in common. This song is “Gravitate”.

Clue time:

Next Band: Sounds like Halloween when you are a kid. CANDY CORN!!!

This won’t be a surprise for Nicole, but this is pound for pound (4 people x 150lbs average = 600 pounds) the best band out there right now. We saw them tonight at Saint Andrews they were amazing as usually. I will probably mention them ALOT. Great talent, and nice people too. They are on tour. They don’t sound like anyone else.

First Band ever! Avett Brothers “I and Love and You”, from the album of the same name. Found this randomly yesterday and I can’t quit listening to it.

  1. I am sucker for Americana/Alt Country
  2. If music has seasons(which it does), this song is fall.

Just puts me back to another place. Moving to New York was a melancholy, yet exciting period of life. And you want to belong sooo bad, Brooklyn became our home. The whole album is amazing, lots of variety. Buy it.

Lets start at the beginning....

This blog isn’t going to be some crazy Pitchfork connoisseur obscure list off. Hopefully! This is meant to be a good mix of new music released every week and something that lives in the back of my head. Think biweekly part new Muse “Uprising”, part Uncle Tupelo “Screen Door”. I will be picking songs more than albums, and I might not like the song but just want to talk about it. Join in.

Where do I get this music from? The internet ether of course, who knows….feel free to give me suggestions.
